As spring cleanup begins, please remember that Shelter Bay covenants prohibit dumping grass clippings, yard debris, or other refuse on any lot or community property, including Greenbelts. Unauthorized dumping may result in significant fines, up to $1000 for repeat offenses, plus removal costs.
Members of the Green Task Force have often seen trash or refuse heaps when monitoring Green Belt maintenance activities throughout Shelter Bay. Improper disposal creates visual blight, attracts vermin and other pests, and increases fire risk. Please dispose of all refuse properly.
There are options available for residents to dispose of yard waste other than subscribing to Waste Management’s green bins. Inexpensive yard waste bags are available at local hardware stores, and the Town of La Conner offers a low cost and conveniently located yard waste disposal station.
