What is Disc Golf?
Disc Golf is a game where players throw a flying disc (similar to a frisbee) toward a metal basket. The goal is to get the disc into the basket in as few throws as possible, kind of like golf but with discs instead of balls and clubs.
How is it Played?
- Start at the tee – Each hole begins at a marked spot called the tee.
- Throw the disc – Players take turns throwing their discs toward the basket.
- Play from where it lands – After each throw, you throw again from where your disc landed.
- Finish the hole – Keep throwing until your disc lands in the basket.
- Keep score – Each throw counts as one point. The player with the lowest total score at the end of the course wins.
Come and try it out! A few discs are provided, but you’re encouraged to bring your own. Each of the nine holes begins with a tee throw. This is done from the current tee boxes that golfers use. You will find information on distance/direction to next basket on nearby benches. On our course, each hole is par 3.
Some simple rules to remember:
● The player with the least number of strokes on the previous hole is the first to tee off on the next hole.
● After everyone has teed off, the player whose disc is farthest from the basket always throws first.
● A disc that comes to rest in the disc basket or suspended in the chains constitutes the successful completion of that hole.
The most important rule: “The one who has the most fun wins.”
A BIG thank you to the volunteers, together with Shelter Bay Maintenance Department, who installed this fun addition!
