Creating Magic with Glass and Light

Feb 24 | 6:30 PM | Clubhouse

When light shines through glass, something absolutely magic happens…a reflection of optimism and hope.

These are the words of Steve Klein, an internationally known glass artist and educator, and fellow Shelter Bay resident. Join us on Feb 24 for a Communiversity presentation by Steve, who will speak about glass art and artists in our region, and the Pilchuck Glass School.

Originally, Steve worked in industrial sales for 25 years in California.  To him it was “just a job.”

While visiting a friend in Washington state, he serendipitously discovered a brochure about Pilchuck Glass School. He was intrigued. After giving it thought, he applied for a class and was surprised when he was accepted. He enjoyed the freedom of the art community and left with a dream to be a glass blower.

He found he really loved the process of fusing glass, as it was a slower process than blowing glass, which gave him a sense of “the whole world opening up” to him in his work.

He has said of his work in his studio, “Every day, something new happens….and I love it.”
