The World As Seen Through Expo

June 16 | 6:30 PM | Clubhouse

Most of us never visit 166 countries. But for 20 days in May 2025, the speaker did the next best thing – exploring every corner of the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, where nations, large and small, each built a pavilion to share their culture with the world.

This talk is a rich visual, and sometimes auditory, journey through the food, music, dance, clothing, art, and artifacts that make our world so endlessly diverse. You’ll also pick up surprising facts about U.S. and Canadian culture, get a brief history of World Expos, and see how the whole experience compares to Epcot’s World Showcase. Come curious. Leave inspired.

Instructor: Keith Stobie is a Shelter Bay resident and world traveler across seven continents and many countries. With his wife, Lois, they have attended six Expos in detail. In addition to traveling, they enjoy ballroom dancing together.
