CRITICAL  ANNOUNCEMENT – CLICK HERE

Join us for Shelter Bay’s New Year’s Day 3rd Annual Polar Plunge, Thursday January 1. 12:30 p.m. at Martha’s Beach. Shelter Bay residents requested, and Social & Recreation (SRC) rallied to offer. SRC will provide hot cocoa for participants and spectators.

In addition to your Polar Plunge attire (bathing suit, t-shirts, or dry suit) it is highly recommended participants wear some kind of swim shoe or sandal. And be sure to have a towel and dry clothes ready as you come out of the water.

As a group, we’ll excitedly walk into the shallow waters at the left-side of the beach – the point where the driftwood and mudflats allow.

The polar plunge, has origins to early 20th-century swim clubs, with the oldest documented US event by Boston’s L Street Brownies in 1904. Polar Plunges have since evolved into global traditions for health and renewal.
